Gundogs may also be known as sporting dogs. They were bred to help hunters by flushing our game and wildlife, point to game for shooting and retrieve shot game.

The pros of owning a gundog is that they are used to working closely with people which makes them very sociable pets. They are willing to please and easy to train. They are patient and tolerant dogs but they love to play, making them ideal for families with children.

However, gundogs can be ‘mouthy’ and they love to chew anything they can get their paws on, especially as puppies and young dogs. They need a lot of exercise and will become boisterous and destructive if their high energy levels are not used up on long walks and runs.
