Timmy
Description
Hi Michael and Lisa
I hope you are both well. I thought I would send you both a quick email to let you know how Timmy is settling in.
He’s been with us for about two weeks now. He is a little live wire when he wants to be, and then sleeps really soundly! During the nights he is really good and stays in his bed quietly (next to ours) all night, and waits until we invite him up onto our bed in the morning.
He very rarely messes in the house and lets us know when he wants to go by running to the door and putting his paws on it.
Timmy has got quite attached to us already so we are practising him with crate training which he seems to be getting on well with when we have to go out. We give him a Nutella filled Kong for company, some cosy blankets and his food, which seems to keep him occupied until we get home. He is still sad when we leave but we are hoping he will get better as he learns that we will always come back.
He has pretty good recall off lead, he does like to play with other dogs when we are out but comes back (most of the time!) with the promise of a little treat. Timmy already knew sit when we got him, but Ashley has now taught him ‘paw’ as well, which is very cute!
Timmy is good when we have visitors and takes food and treats very gently. He does not seem to have issues with food at all, other than constantly being on the lookout for more food!
We have got Timmy a range of toys and he particularly seems to enjoy his toy monkey, tennis balls and an old slipper! He likes chewing so we are going to buy him some raw hide. Michael – we are having to keep carrier bags and tissues out of his reach, he does have a soft spot for them!
I have literally taken hundreds of photos of Timmy already as he is such a little character. He can be cheeky but when he is behaving himself he is a lovely little dog. I’ll send you some more pictures separately.
We start our 6 week training course with him on Tuesday, so hopefully that will help us with things like perfecting his recall, barking (he has little bursts when he wants to bark at everything!) and being calmer when one or both of us goes out.
I hope this email reaches you both safely. Until the next update!
Michelle and Ashley.
