Emmet

Emmet

Description

Dear Lisa

As promised, an update with some photos of Emmet who came to live with us on August 25th 2012, so he has been here for just 3 weeks as I write this.

He is the most wonderful dog, he has settled extremely well & loves everyone in our house, who love him back.

We had expected a few problems as he had been separated from his family due to their move to the USA, he had lived veryhappily with them for all of his 6 & a half years from puppy-hood, so this was a big change for him. As yet, no problems have materialised & he has taken us on as his family now. We are still learning all the things he knows, he knows sit, wait, stay & down,& his ll is amazing, he was off the lead in the park from day 2 & now he is walked regularly off the lead without any problems. He trots ahead with his ball in his mouth with an occasional glance to make sure we are still with him! He loves a game with a ball thrown from his twanger, we have to have 2 balls, one in his mouth & one ready to be thrown.

We were a little anxious about how Emmet would be with our cats, we have 4, but on his arrival we brought him in on the lead & 2 of our moggies were there to greet him. He just ignored them & this has continued, they are now confident around him so all is peaceful in our household, much easier than we expected. Emmet loves to sit on my lap of an evening & I usually have one cat on the arm of the chair & another at my feet!

He had been used to sleeping on a ‘human’ bed, we wanted to stop this. He does sleep in our bedroom so we bought him a cheapie bed just in case he wanted to wreak his vengeance upon it, he jumped up onto our bed 3 times on night 1 & got down when told & settled in his bed, on night 2 he tried just once & then tucked up in his bed, since then he trots upstairs & gets straight into his own bed without a peep from him until morning. We have since bought him a new swanky bed & he loves it! When we wake, he trots around to each of us in turn, tail wagging ready for a new, happy day!

We are away for 2 weeks at the beginning of next month in our touring caravan, this will be a first for Emmet, but he has already given it an inspection & we are looking forward so much to taking away with us.

Emmet has come to live not only in our home but in our hearts, he only has to sit & look at me & I just melt, we are so lucky to have had the opportunity to give him a new home & we look forward to a long & happy time with him.

Thank you, Mayhew,

With very best wishes

Angela
