Hello, my name is Conor

I’m an eleven month old male German Shepherd and Siberian husky Crossbreed. I arrived at The Mayhew as my owner could no longer cope with the training and guidance I required.

I am a very friendly, playful and active boy. I am well-behaved when given strict guidelines. I’m toilet trained and I can be left on my own for an hour or so without any problems. I’m an intelligent boy with great motivation so I pick up new commands quickly. I already know, sit, down, wait, stay and paw. I also walk well on my lead. I get along well with most people I meet and I always greet people I know with a full tail wag, but care does need to be taken with strangers and visitors to my home. I also get along well with other dogs and enjoy going to the park. I have good recall off my lead. I also love to play with toys; my favourite is a tennis ball and I enjoy a good game of fetch. I’m an affectionate boy, but I can get over excited and mouth when you go to leave me. I could also live with another dog providing we’re the right match but no cats please.

My new owners would be experienced with working breeds and looking for a dog they want to train. My new owners should be willing to put my intelligence and skills into practice as I would enjoy obedience training, agility, flyball, or canine scent work. At the moment my handlers are teaching me to follow a scent trail. My new owners will need to continue my training by going to training classes and provide me with a minimum of one hour of controlled active off lead exercise in the park every day. I will need to be muzzled as I can sometimes chase joggers and cyclists. I need an all adult household with no children or visiting children. Ideally, I would like to find a home out of town. If you’re interested in adopting me you will need to be fully prepared for the hard work and long-term commitment involved in caring for a dog, you will be taking on a fourteen year commitment, which must not be taken lightly.
